Welcome to my first blog post on Foster Inc. I've been writing a personal blog for the last few years and for some reason people seem to love it. I suppose it's one of those talents you never really knew you had until you try it. I don't write well under pressure so I can't guarantee there will always be something to read on here but I will certainly make it a priority. So, thank you in advance for reading and I hope to entertain and possibly even educate you moving forward.

What does it take to run a business?

Depending on who you ask, there is a long list of anwers to this question but in the essense of time and having to get in the shower to start my day, I'm going to talk about one of the most important things.... SUPPORT.

When I say support, I'm not just talking about physical support, the emotional support is just as important. My company is only a few months old but I started it to not only help women build their businesses but to offer them a group, a community and a sounding board of other women business owners that 'get it'. We get that there isn't enough time in the day, that the lists of things to do are long, that making big decisions without a partner can be scary and that looking at your numbers can be like reading another language.

The women in my groups not only provide business insights to each other but they also provide support on the emotional side. Only a few weeks after our first meeting, one of my women had a set back. She posted on our private Facebook page her frustration and feeling of defeat. Not only did every woman in the group send her words of inspiration and empathize with her, but she also got phone calls and text messages throughout the day from these other women... other business owners with full plates and long to-do lists... checking on her and asking her if there was anything they could do to help.

So, when you decide you're going to take the leap and start your own business, make sure you have a solid support system in place - whether it's family, friends, collegues - surround yourself with people that are going to lift you up and help you reach for the stars.
